It is not uncommon, when seeking to seize assets, to search whether a debtor owns any cars or commercial vehicles, as such assets are quite simple to track, suspend and seize.<\/p>\n
Such searches are carried out throughout Italy in two ways, depending on the data available. The simplest way is to search for vehicle number plates in the public vehicle register (PRA): this is a quick and cost-effective way to obtain all the necessary information, such as the personal details of the owner, including name\/trade name, date\/place of birth, address of residence, as well as useful information about any vehicle suspension, financing, loans, etc. Data about the vehicle is also provided, such as the make, model, chassis number, registration date, engine capacity and intended use, so that the creditor can quickly calculate its current market value.<\/p>\n
If you do not know the number plate, you can proceed in reverse mode, i.e. start with a name, tax code or vat number, and check if there are any vehicles registered in that particular name: this returns a list of all the vehicles related to that party, with information such as number plate, make, model, date of registration in the public vehicle register (PRA), as well as – once again – any problems such as vehicle suspensions or loans.
\nThis second search is more complex and expensive than the previous one because it aims to track all the vehicles registered in a party\u2019s name rather than the owner of a single vehicle.<\/p>\n
The results of both searches are always accompanied by the documents issued by the PRA to confirm our findings.<\/p>\n
Two important notes: the PRA database does not contain the number plates of vehicles registered before 1993, agricultural vehicles, caravans, motor homes, camper vans, boats, inflatable boats and mopeds; moreover, it clearly only contains Italian number plates, therefore this research will not return vehicles registered abroad.<\/p>\n
